Hello
My name is Sabrina Rahman. I'm the Founder of "AI For Seniors". I love high-tech - especially the areas of the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence ("AI"). In my spare time, I find my creative outlet in creating applications (C#; Python; Java), composing poetry & writing short stories. I'm very excited by the potential that AI holds in helping us all live our best lives.
The Story of "AI For Seniors"
"AI For Seniors" was inspired by my 82-year old grandad. Like a number of senior citizens these days, he does own a laptop and a smartphone (iPhone). But using a touch screen or a keyboard is increasingly onerous for him, especially given his worsening arthritis and farsightedness (hyperopia). Like a lot of seniors he's also getting more forgetful, often forgetting important dates (like my birthday!). And it can be inconvenient to have to pick up & navigate your phone to know something quickly (e.g. a sports score) or schedule an event. Noting all this, I set up an AI enabled smart device for him (an Echo Pop). And I was surprised at the positive impact on his life of having an always-on, AI-enabled smart speaker in his living room. Engaging with AI through just natural conversation has made him more productive, better informed, and more connected than ever before.
I know there are a lot of seniors like my grandad out there. Many of whom may not be able to afford getting another gadget beyond their phone or may not even know where to start. I've formed AI For Seniors to reach out to such seniors in need. Working with volunteers, I want to set them up with an AI-enabled "smart" speaker at no cost to them and to support them so that they, like my grandad, can take advantage of AI to live their best lives.

Omar Rahman
Omar brings a wealth of experience in building and growing technology businesses. He is the President of AEGA Consulting. His career path has blended strategy and operations, including leadership roles at HERE Technologies, McKinsey & Company, and The Procter & Gamble Company. Omar has a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sadaf Elahi, MD
Dr. Sadaf Elahi has pursued a career centered on the care of the elderly. She is a partner at the Nephrology Associates of Northern Illinois. Sadaf is supports multiple healthcare facilities, including Advent Care. She also takes care of seniors at multiple nursing homes. Sadaf completed her training at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Richard Ruff, DO
Dr. Richard Ruff is an ER physician affiliated with Adventist Healthcare. He currently practices at the Adventist hospitals in Hinsdale, La Grange, Bolingbrook, and Glen Oaks. Rich is a strong advocate of preventative healthcare and believes technology at home can play a key role. He received his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the Midwestern University Chicago School of Osteopathic Medicine.
