An aging population needs smart hands-free support.
The US has a rapidly aging population
61% of Americans ages 65 and over own smartphones
But using smartphones for Americans ages 65 and over is onerous
-
35% have arthritis (Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services)
-
36% have hyperopia or farsightedness (National Institutes of Health)
-
40% experience age-related memory loss (National Institutes of Health)
Not surprisingly two-thirds of seniors ages 65 and over state that technology is not designed with their age group in mind
(AARP Research)
Something more is needed: voice-based AI assistants bridge the gap !
Results from pilot studies, on the impact of introducing voice-based AI assistants ("smart speakers") to seniors, are very positive
-
75% of seniors use their smart speakers at least once daily
-
100% of seniors felt that smart speakers made their lives much easier
